The state has still 4 native cultures living in the Copper Canyon area, the largest group are the Rarámuri. They’ve kept alive their millenary traditions. Special mention should be made of Holy Week festivities; they celebrate in a very peculiar way their religious syncretism.

In 1922 the Mennonites arrived at Cuauhtémoc region; they are excellent farmers and great cheese producers. They are so dedicated and hard-working, that what used to be a wasteland, is now filled with prosperous crops fields.

They organize the Expo Mennonite in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, where they display their produce and machinery that have been created according to their needs.
