Chihuahua, CHIH., November 17th, 2025. The ninth edition of Mexico’s most important wine, spirits and beer competition begins today in the city of Chihuahua. Forty international judges from Germany, Belgium, Canada, Spain, the United States, France, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom will be responsible for evaluating and recognizing the best products made by Mexican producers. For the ninth consecutive year, the competition sets a new record for registered samples.
Organized by the Chihuahua Ministry of Tourism and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the México Selection by CMB will take place from November 17th to 21st, 2025, at the Sebastián Museum Casa Siglo XIX. Throughout the event, experts will taste around 40 samples daily—including wines, spirits and beers—competing for Silver, Gold and Grand Gold Medals.
In addition, the competition will award the “Revelations of the México Selection by CMB, presented by Audi” trophies, which recognize the most innovative beverages and those that best represent emerging trends both in Mexico and globally.
This is the second time that Chihuahua—Mexico’s fourth-largest wine-grape-producing state, with more than 400 hectares of vineyards—hosts this satellite competition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
“We are very pleased to continue promoting Chihuahua’s positioning within the national and international wine scene. The instructions from our Governor, María Eugenia Campos Galván (Maru Campos), are clear: to showcase Chihuahua, with all its attractions, as an unmissable tourist destination. Of course, the growth of the wine, spirits and now craft beer industries is part of this development”, said Felipe Edibray Gómez Gallegos, Chihuahua’s Ministry of Tourism.
“The judges visiting Chihuahua this week will not only taste local wines, spirits and beers; they will also experience our vineyards, the city’s main attractions and, through an extended agenda, explore other regions of the state, such as our Sierra Tarahumara, the revolutionary history of the south, our traditions and, in the north, Mexico’s finest border region and the fantastic Samalayuca Dunes.
“We are promoting events throughout the entire state, showcasing our outstanding gastronomy and oenological development, aiming to make November the month of Chihuahuan wine. Let us remember that Chihuahua is growing in the tourism panorama, and wine tourism is no exception. We have already received distinctions, such as the award from México Desconocido magazine in its ‘Best of Mexico’ contest, where the state won second place nationwide in the category ‘Best Setting for a Wine & Flavor Experience.’”
The participating products cover a wide spectrum. In wines, the most represented grape varieties include Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay, among others. Spirits categories include Tequila, Mezcal, Sotol, Gin, Whisky and various liqueurs. Beer joins the competition for the first time, with entries such as Dark Ale, Lager, Pale & Amber Ale and Flavoured Beer, among others, evaluated by a specialized panel.
“It is a true pleasure to return to Chihuahua with the México Selection by CMB, presented by Audi. This land of wide horizons and genuine spirit captivated us from our first visit. Its energy, hospitality and the enthusiasm of its producers reflect the authenticity of Mexican wine, spirits and beer. Coming back, surrounded by such inspiring landscapes and a culture that embraces innovation without losing its roots, fills us with joy”, said Baudouin Havaux, President of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
“Chihuahua embodies the new vitality of the wine sector, as well as the outstanding quality of Mexican spirits and beer. Returning here for a second time not only reaffirms the CMB’s confidence in its potential but also strengthens our commitment to the growth and international projection of Mexico’s beverage industry. This competition could not find a more stimulating setting to celebrate Mexico’s excellence and talent”.
The results of the México Selection by CMB, presented by Audi, will be published on Friday, November 28th, on the official website: https://mexicoselection.com/

More than a Blind Tasting
The México Selection by CMB, presented by Audi, is much more than a blind tasting. Its main purpose is to foster dialogue and create a meeting point for the key players of Mexico’s wine, spirits and beer industries; to establish a reliable quality seal for consumers; to provide producers with a promotional tool recognized by the industry and the general public; and to promote both the host region and the competition’s local partners.
