México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Coahuila 2022 awards medals to 160 wines and 53 spirits from Mexico and the United States.
The host state, Coahuila, wins 30 medals for its wines and 4 for its spirits. For the sixth consecutive year, Baja California remains at the top of the medal list, with 72 medals awarded to its wines.
Mexico City, Mexico. November 25th, 2022.- The results of México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Coahuila 2022 were released. The international jury awarded Silver, Gold and Grand Gold medals to wines and spirits from 17 producing states in Mexico and 2 producing states in the United States. The states that have won the most medals in the wine category this year are Baja California, with 72 medals; Coahuila, with 30, and Querétaro and Guanajuato, with 16 each. The awarded spirits come mainly from the states of Oaxaca and Jalisco.
In the 6th edition of the wine and spirits championship, 10 wines received the Grand Gold Medal, compared to 24, in 2021. This year Baja California and Coahuila lead the list of Grand Gold Medals with 4 medals each. Guanajuato is consolidated in the second position with 1 Grand Gold Medal. In the spirits section, Oaxaca leads the list of awarded products with 2 Grand Gold Medals. They are followed by the states of Jalisco and Querétaro, with 1 Grand Gold Medal respectively.
The tasters of the México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Coahuila 2022 awarded Gold Medals to 48 wines and Silver Medals to 102 wines. Among the spirits, 24 products received Gold Medals and 25 Silver Medals.
The United States of America, “Guest Country of Honor 2022”, obtained 1 Grand Gold Medal, 5 Gold Medals and 7 Silver Medals for its wines.
2022 is an extraordinary year for Coahuila, which breaks a record with a total of 4 Grand Gold Medals for Bodegas Los Cedros Chenin Blanc 2021, Camino Corazón Rosado 2022, Casa Madero Gran Reserva Shiraz 2018 and Parvada Selección del Enólogo 2018; in addition to 9 Gold Medals and 17 Silver Medals. Likewise, the host state adds medals for its distillates: Gin Rusé Floral, with a Gold Medal; Gin Rusé, with a Gold Medal, and the Sotol Blanco Hacienda de Canutillo and Sotol Rey David, with Silver Medals each.
The “2022 Winning States”, the states that have obtained the highest number of awards from México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, both in wines and spirits, are Baja California (72 medals) and Coahuila (34 medals), followed by Oaxaca (20), Querétaro (18) and Guanajuato (with 16 medals).
Within the framework of the post-event program of México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, activities to promote the awarded products are planned, including the Awards Ceremony to the Winning Wines and Spirits of the 6th Edition of México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, to be held in January 2023 in Mexico City.
ABOUT MÉXICO SELECTION BY CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES
The 6th Edition of México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was held from November 16th to 18th in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila. A total of 737 wines and spirits, from 21 producing states of Mexico and the United States, “Guest Country of Honor 2022”, competed for a distinction.
Twenty-eight judges from Belgium, Canada, Chile, Spain, the United States, France, Mexico, and the United Kingdom were responsible for blind tasting and scoring the wines and spirits. The next México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be held in the State of Yucatán, in November 2023.
